Privacy Policy for Free Open Source Apps
Effective date: July 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to free and open-source applications published by Libertas Primordium, including Other Note, package name com.libertasprimordium.othernote, unless a specific application has its own separate privacy policy.
Overview
Libertas Primordium free and open-source applications are designed to minimize data collection.
Libertas Primordium does not sell, rent, monetize, analyze, or use user data for advertising. These applications do not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, telemetry SDKs, behavioral tracking, or third-party crash-reporting services unless a specific application's separate privacy policy states otherwise.
Other Note
Other Note is a note-taking application that stores user-created notes. Other Note may publish encrypted note data or encrypted note events to Nostr relays as part of its synchronization and storage functionality.
Nostr relays are independently operated third-party servers. Libertas Primordium does not own, operate, or control those relays.
Encrypted Note Content
Other Note is designed so that note contents are encrypted before they are transmitted to Nostr relays.
Libertas Primordium does not receive decrypted note contents and does not operate a server that stores decrypted note contents.
However, encrypted note events, associated Nostr event metadata, timestamps, public keys or other protocol-level identifiers, and network metadata may be visible to or processed by Nostr relays depending on the relay, the Nostr protocol feature used, and the user's configuration.
Local Data
Other Note may store notes, settings, preferences, encryption keys, relay configuration, and other application data locally on the user's device.
Users may delete locally stored application data by using application features, clearing the application's storage through Android system settings, or uninstalling the application.
Nostr Relays and Third Parties
When Other Note connects to Nostr relays, encrypted note events and related protocol data may be transmitted to third-party relay operators.
Relay operators may have their own terms, privacy practices, logging practices, retention policies, moderation policies, and deletion behavior. Libertas Primordium does not control third-party relay operators.
Deletion
Other Note provides deletion functionality for local application data and may send deletion requests to Nostr relays.
Deletion requests sent to Nostr relays do not guarantee deletion. Some relays and clients may ignore deletion requests, may retain backups, may have already replicated events, or may be unavailable when deletion is requested.
Libertas Primordium cannot guarantee deletion of data that has been transmitted to or stored by third-party Nostr relays.
Telemetry and Tracking
These applications do not include analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, telemetry, behavioral monitoring, or third-party crash-reporting services unless a specific application's separate privacy policy states otherwise.
Permissions
If an application requests Android permissions, those permissions are used only to provide application functionality. Permissions are not used for advertising, analytics, telemetry, or behavioral tracking.
Data Retention
Libertas Primordium does not operate application servers that retain decrypted Other Note note contents.
Local data remains on the user's device until deleted by the user or the operating system.
Data transmitted to Nostr relays may be retained according to the policies and behavior of those independent relays. Libertas Primordium cannot control or guarantee third-party relay retention periods.
Children's Privacy
These applications do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
